Let’s take a look at the new and upcoming Salesforce certifications for 2022!
Salesforce Strategy Designer Certification
- Availability: Monday May 23, 2022

- Certification pathway: Designer
This is the second in the “designer” pathway, which began last year with the Salesforce UX Designer certification. Salesforce recognized a gap in their credentials for the ‘softer’, intangible aspects of building on the Salesforce platform. Designing Salesforce with the end user in mind will improve user adoption – an age-old problem battled by both specialists and Salesforce themselves.
“Salesforce Certified Strategy Designer candidates create value by aligning an organization around and directing the design of systems-level solutions toward desired business and user outcomes.”
What’s involved in the Strategy Designer certification may go over your head (much of the exam outline went over mine!). “Challenge statements”, “frame the altitude and scope of a design project”, “internal dynamics of the organization”, “methods of co-creation” – just a few phrases that prove this certification is for professionals with lived experience of these practices.
While there are no prerequisites to be eligible for this exam, the recommended experience you should have before attempting this certification is significant:
- 3 years of hands-on experience as a strategy designer (or similar role).
- 1-2 years of experience in the Salesforce platform.
- 2 years of experience in leading complex projects (you’ll need advanced facilitation and consultative skills).
To summarize, it’s an exciting opportunity for specialists to prove they have the consultative/design skills, at an advanced level that takes a lot into account when designing for their stakeholders.

Salesforce Business Analyst Certification
- Availability: Monday 11th July 2022

The highly-anticipated Business Analyst certification has gone from a rumour to “coming soon”. A key role in the Salesforce ecosystem, many people over the years have wondered why there’s been a lack of certification for BAs.
Business Analysts are the people in your organization who are asking ‘why’ – why a process happens the way it does – to understand what the business needs from its technology.
Again, it’s a discipline that’s tricky to test someone’s knowledge on, and lived experience will be key to excelling here.

Salesforce Associate
- Availability: September 2022
- Certification pathway: Admin
The Salesforce Certified Associate is a brand new entry-level certification, aimed at Trailblazers with 0-6 months of Salesforce experience. This new type of certification removes the emphasis on hands-on practical expertise, and instead validates and empowers those with foundational Salesforce knowledge.
This knowledge includes understanding what a Customer Relationship Management platform is for, what business needs it solves, and how the Salesforce product suite can be used to transform and automate business teams and processes.
Salesforce Enterprise Architect

- Certification pathway: Architect
Salesforce has put a huge focus on the Architect certification path over the past few years, ensuring Salesforce professionals can slowly build up experience in all relevant areas, to properly advance their career.
In more recent years, the focus has switched from Technical Architects to Solution Architects, with Salesforce bringing out both the B2B & B2C Solution Architect certifications.
Alongside all these current certifications, the “Enterprise Architect” role is also commonly mentioned, with relevant training already available for this path via the Salesforce partner learning camp. While there are no official announcements of an Enterprise Architect cert, this is one we expect to be launched later this year…
Mulesoft Practitioner
- Availability: Rumoured Certification
- Certification pathway: Mulesoft
For those that have been keeping an eye on the Dreamforce sessions this year, you may have noticed that there is a session called “Meet the New Mulesoft Practitioner Certification”.
From the looks of things, this will be the first official Mulesoft certification rolled into the Salesforce certification program.
