At the beginning of July Third Republic held the first in the series of SF Republic meetups in London. The event was hosted by specialist Salesforce recruiter Chris Harvey, while two fantastic names in the Salesforce world; Salesforce Architect, Developer and MVP, Amnon Kruvi and Agile Product Manager at RCSLT, Siobhan Durcan, covered some interesting topics and provided their insights into the vast ecosystem.
The evening was opened by Chris introducing SF Republic and the purpose of these events, which are designed specifically with Salesforce professionals in mind. The ultimate aim of these events is to facilitate the various careers of Salesforce professionals, as well as to help drive revenue in the businesses they work for.
After being given the opportunity to network over a few drinks and some brain food (in the form of pizza), the first of the speakers took to the mic.
Career advice from a Salesforce MVP
Amnon Kruvi is a Salesforce Developer and Architect and is the Director of his own firm, Kruvi Solutions. He opened up with some background into how his Salesforce career began and went on to provide key tips and insights for career progression within the Salesforce ecosystem.
Here are some of the fundamentals that Amnon believes helped him to progress to where he is today in his career:
• Set goals
• Study
• Read blogs (and write your own)
• Use social media
• Give back to anyone who gave to you
• Become an active member of the Trailblazer Community
Amnon credits his active participation within the Salesforce world, his dedication to study and passion for learning, and his willingness to share his knowledge in order to help others progress their careers, as the keys to his success and his impressive Salesforce MVP status.
Adopting Agile
Following Amnon’s inspiring and insightful talk, there was time for a little more networking before Siobhan Durcan began her talk around ways in which developers and business analysts can increase the change of project success by encouraging the adoption of agile practices.
Siobhan outlined common ways in which businesses try to increase the chances of project success, but that often end up having the opposite effect. She provided some insights into why this happens and how anyone on the project team can start using agile behaviours to get things back on track
A great success
As the first SF Republic meetup, the event was a great success. We would like to thank all those who attended the event and contributed to such a positive evening, with special thanks going to our superstar Salesforce speakers, Amnon and Siobhan.
